San Shou: The Art of Free Fighting.
San Da (San Shou) Kickboxing combines striking, wrestling and throwing. The style compliments Wing Chun and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to give you a more functional all round approach to fighting. In fact it is ideal for Mix Martial Arts (MMA) training.
San Da Kickboxing
Our San Shou (San Da) Kickboxing class meets at our gym every Wednesday at 8.45pm.
A typical class consists of a brief fitness and condition workout, boxing, wrestling, and pad work drills to warm up. We then progress towards technique training, and finally sparring at the end of the class. While beginners are always welcome, they are not encouraged to spar straight away. Instead we prefer that new students wait until they are confident with the technique for sparring.
We will be happy to lend you equipment for your first lesson. However, the following equipment is required for this class: Boxing Gloves, Hand Wraps, Gum Shield, Shin and Head Guards (Thigh Guards are optional), as well as a Chest Protector. Please wear shorts and a t-shirt.
SAN SHOU KICKBOXING.
A great alternative to Muay Thai Boxing, San Shou (San Da) Kickboxing is a martial art that has in part been developed by the Chinese military, but this martial art is more a result of blending traditional Chinese Kung Fu and Wu Shu styles with modern combat fighting techniques. Hence, San Shou (San Da) has an emphasis on wrestling, takedowns, throws, sweeps and leg catches in a full contact kickboxing format.
Similar to Mauy Thai boxing, this Chinese form of Kickboxing has a full range striking, kicking, clinching and leg catches, as well as wrestling take downs. In fact, there is a greater emphasis on throwing in San Shou Kickboxing making it valid component art for those interested in progressing towards mixed martial arts training.
San Shou boxing is safe, fast paced, fun, and an energetic form of kickboxing training. You’ll not only get fit, but you’ll learn an effective blend of martial arts technique. Our classes are friendly and multi level, so in our gym you will work at a level to suit you. If you are new to this type of martial arts training, we will teach you the basics of San Da kicks, strikes, and throws while concentrating on improving your fitness to get you started.
